Top Submission Holds (with Donnie Dukes)
Share
(from Red Rocket vs. me as Dr. Mind Control)
"The Boss" reached out and asked me to rank tops submission holds. Cameron himself is a top notch wrestler (or at least I need to let him think I believe that to more easily soften him up once we finally wrestle). So, wanted to capture some of my favorites I've seen on Wrestler4Hire.
Octopus Hold
(from Ronnie Pearl vs. Ace Owens (Knocked Out))
Stands out by its uniqueness to take over most of the body. Ronnie grabbing Ace's free leg adds extra leverage for more pain. Standout British talent Zach Sabre, Jr. often uses it to finish off his opponents.
A strong alternative is a flat crab submission to both legs, but grab up to the arms to leave a prone opponent face down and unable to escape.
Banana Split
(from Javier the Hunk vs. Blake Starr (NHB Fights))
While I like a spladle, when it's like this, behind the opponent's lower back, it's a banana split. If not flexible, the scream they make from tightened hamstrings and groin muscles being ripped when pulling their legs apart is an amazing sound.
Inverted Human Backpack/Gory Special
(from Cameron vs. Chase Sinn (Back Attack))
Had to get "The Boss" in here somewhere. The Gory Special is rare to see. When someone tells me they need their back cracked or stretched, I'll lock them in this and pull their back in opposite directions before they realized they are trapped until I choose to let them go.
Surfboard
(from Jonny Firestorm vs. Forrest Taylor (Squashed))
A submission master and artist like Jonny Firestorm would absolutely have this in his arsenal. Wrap up your opponents legs, pull them back by the arms or neck, and take them on a ride that'll punishing all of their joints in the process.
Sleeper Hold
(from Dimitri Darkthorn vs. Chad Daniels)
Technically not a submission hold, as it serves to put someone out cold. But, it's one of the easiest to grab and commonly used. I'm a big fan of Dimitri's punishing use of it.
I'll admit it, the boss's use of a Cobra Clutch is an...adequate way to put someone out cold, slowly squeezing the energy out of them. A good triangle choke, like ones from a Jax Brewer or Bam Bam Bossio delivers the same result with a good flare in execution. Maybe I'll show Cameron how you can actually combine a Cobra Clutch and Triangle Choke together.
HONORABLE MENTION:
Absolute Punishment(from Dash vs. Nick Justice)
Nick Justice himself is a weapon. A strong submission wrestler in his own right, he also knows unique ways to dominate opponents. Tying them in ropes (trust be told, I got asked to "prepare" Dash before their encounter - now people ask me to hogtie them) and then into knots, serums, wrapping opponent's in their own singlets (or his) to choke them out (honestly, Nick vs. Noah Yuckenberg is one my favorites on the site). Sometimes a pure beatdown is its own effective route to have an opponent say, "I submit".

I’ve heard the surfboard referred to as suspended surfboard or ceiling hold by wrestling commentators.
Also love seeing the bear hug and figure 4 scissors around the neck and head.
I second Kel-Dog with the Figure-4 and Bearhug. I would also like to nominate the torture rack or over the shoulder backbreaker. Bonus points if the jobber passes out while in the move.
2 matches that I know of that feature this are Brute vs Dashing Dustin & Gabe vs Dimitri Darkthorn.
I would like to nominate two favorite submission holds for consideration. The Bear Hug and the Figure Four. Intense pain at end of a long and weary sweaty match.
