Back in the day, we used to get together and film matches in my hometown. This one took place at a local fitness spot during the summer. The wrestlers loved coming to town—the weather was beautiful, and so were their opponents.

We had a fan who was a private video collector. He was incredibly kind to us and had a particular interest in squash matches featuring some of the hottest pro wrestlers on the scene—many of whom were fairly discreet about appearing in this kind of footage. One of them was Caleb Klein, a hot, up-and-coming pro still in his formative years. He always enjoyed coming to town because it gave him the chance to test himself against some of the best wrestlers from all over.

On this occasion, Caleb is matched up with loud-mouthed French Canadian pro wrestler MarkO—and yes, he’s not thrilled about his role today: the jobber. He evens leave his boots at home, so it's boots versus barefeet.

Caleb completely squashes the second-generation pro, who’s often been compared to a shorter Barry Burke. He methodically cycles through his arsenal of old-school Southern pro wrestling offense, highlighted by a picture-perfect Figure Four leg lock. Sweat pours off Caleb’s smooth junior heavyweight frame as he layers on Cobra Clutches, single-leg Boston Crabs, bow-and-arrow stretches, and even a few dirty heel tactics—like draping his leg across his opponent’s throat while MarkO is trapped in the ropes.

In the end, Caleb has done exactly what the boss wanted. He leaves the bodybuilder sprawled face down on the dirty canvas, defeated, while he walks away looking every bit like a rising star.
