Description
FROM THE VAULT: The FTV series presents some of your favorite W4H wrestlers early in their underground career, or early matches filmed that formed the foundation of the W4H empire. There are few people in the underground wrestling world who can say they have wrestled more matches and for more companies than Austin Cooper. Once a mainstay in the squared circle, here we see a younger Austin in the ring against Wayne the Jobber. For a man whose very name implies he is destined to lose, here Wayne spends an inordinate amount of time trash talking Austin, something the backfires spectacularly.
Trying a test of strength at the outset, something Wayne is convinced he is going to win, instead finds Wayne in the corner being kicker mercilessly by Austin. Other attempts by Wayne to show his "superiority" find him instead locked inside a Boston Crab, slung over Austin's back in a brutal backbreaker and trapped in Austin's massive forearms in a bearhug. Austin is relentless in his attack on Wayne, never giving the young grappler a chance to regroup or recover from any of his maneuvers, swiftly moving from one to another, each with increasing painful intensity.
In the end, the best thing that can be said for the poor Wayne is that he certainly lives up to his namesake. Although he continues to talk a good game throughout the bout, unfortunately he is not able to back up the cocky statements with any real proficiency in the ring. Cooper delivers a truly masterful performance, and when the ending finally arrives, in the form of a tightly applied sleeper hold, Wayne finally stops his ongoing monologue and drifts peacefully in dreamland. A great look at a young Austin Cooper and a worth entrant in the FTV series!
